Relocating to South Africa could be considered very daunting. Britannia Lanes have over 30 years experience of moving customers to South Africa from Cornwall and Devon. We aim to make the process as straightforward as possible - aiding in the elimination of stress and providing ease of mind to our customers.

Removals to South Africa

Beginning the process is as simple as a phone call. Feel free to contact our international team to arrange a surveyor to visit you to discuss all of your moving requirements.

Emigrating to South Africa

Starting the process consists of carrying out an electronic international survey. This is completed by one of our surveyors viewing your property and noting the items you wish to ship. During the survey you can discuss which type of shipment would be best suited to your move. You can choose a smaller consignment know as groupage or have a 20ft or 40ft container to yourself. Groupage can be as little as a couple of boxes or a selection of key items of furniture and multiple boxes. We will export pack your items and take them to the Britannia Movers International depot. This is located in Merstham, Surrey. Your effects will then be consolidated; meaning you only pay for the space used. Containerised shipping is usually selected If you are moving the majority of items from a 2 or 3 bedroom property. You would normally need a 20ft shipping container. If you are moving from a 4 or 5 bedroom property it is likely for you to require a 40ft shipping container.

Packing for South Africa

Here at Britannia Lanes, we have a trained specialist team of export packers who will safely pack up all of your effects into boxes or packages. In some instances, crates can be made in our workshop in advance of your move. These are used for more valuable or fragile items.

Shipping to South Africa

After packing your effects, we will ensure each item is numbered and listed. If you have chosen to use a sole-use container your effects will normally be loaded at your property.

South Africa Container Port

Britannia Lanes take some of the pressure off you. We have a vast amount of knowledge and know exactly what paperwork and visas are required for your removal. When your container arrives at the designated port it will be loaded onto one of the shipping lines. Door-to-door with a full container load (FCL) will normally take between 8 and 13 weeks. A groupage consignment (LCL) will normally take 10 to 14 weeks, although timings are not guaranteed.

Arriving in South Africa

Consignments of household effects that have been owned for longer than 1 year are able to be shipped into South Africa duty-free. Customs inspections will take place, and various documents completed. Following this, one of our Britannia agents will be able to complete your removal and deliver your effects to your new home.
